Eco-Friendly and More
Today, many organizations plan themselves around the core concept of being eco-friendly. The term “green” is the most commonly used and understood term for this movement. In this interest area we spotlighted the new Green Technology concepts that people are using to help us to become and to keep us "green."
Based on the imminent need to “green” our businesses in the US and globally, the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota's Wired for 2020 Event featured industry leading “green technologies” to plant a seed for a better future. The event's participating organizations have made a conscious effort to develop their businesses with a focus on creating new technologies for a better future world.
Because green technology is such a hot and important topic, new technologies are researched all the time. A March 2010 post on Wired Magazine's website covered 10 companies doing innovative energy work, such as Superconductor Technologies, a company that wants to switch aluminum and copper wires in the power grid to a ceramic, high-temperature superconductor that could handle five times the capacity and waste less electricity.

GE Water
There was little break in the action for this group as participants learned about how water is recycled through reverse osmosis. Cool!
Solar Decathlon Team from the University of Minnesota
This team is only one of 20 international teams chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy to compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon. The students built an 800 square foot home whose entire heating , cooling and electrical needs were met by solar power. The team displayed their model and showed the technologies that make this type of home possible.
